Most advertisers are genuine, but fraud exists on every classifieds site. Protect yourself:
Before paying
- Never transfer money (deposit, shipping or insurance fees) before inspecting the machine yourself or through someone you trust.
- See the machine running, check its working hours and overall condition.
- Make sure the papers (registration, invoice, chassis or serial number) match the machine and the seller, or a formal authorisation.
- Where possible, pay and transfer ownership through an official channel or with a written contract.
Warning signs
- A price far below the market with no clear reason.
- The seller is travelling or abroad and asks for payment before shipping.
- Pressure to close the deal quickly.
- Requests for your bank details, one-time codes (OTP) or ID photos.
- Photos taken from the internet or not matching the description.
For advertisers
- Never share a one-time code (OTP) with anyone.
- Make sure the money has actually arrived in your account before handing over the machine; a screenshot of a transfer is not proof.
